Alliance Church of the Nazarene Our Vision“Making Alliances with God and Our Neighbors”
Our Mission “To Make Christlike Disciples in the Nations through: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and outreach in Alliance and throughout the World.”
A Brief History The Alliance Church of the Nazarene was organized in April of 1923, with fourteen charter members. They met and held meetings in the home of Mrs. Kennedy. The church moved into a red brick building on E. Broadway, which is still in use today by another church. Rev. E. E. Johnson served as the first pastor. The church continued to grow, and they decided to build a new church building to meet the need for growth. They began raising funds for a new church building, and many sacrificed by putting their own property down as collateral for the mortgage. In 1925, the new church was built on the corner of E. Summit and S. Linden. Over the next 40 years the church grew and remodeled, expanded, and purchased property to accommodate the needs and growth of the congregation. In 1963, the process of relocating the church started because of cramped space and limited parking space. On Sunday, June 5, 1966, the ground-breaking ceremony was conducted, and construction was completed in June of 1967. The total cost of the building, property, and furnishings was $212,000. We are still at the location on 1345 S. Arch Ave., and we are following the example of love, sacrifice, and service of those who have come before us to continue the mission of Jesus Christ in Alliance and the World. |
